Secrets of Living to be 102?

Posted by Farhad. No Comments

Scientists are constantly studying centenarians, that’s people who live to be 100 or over a 100 years old. We want to know their secrets of staying young and living longer so that we can be just like them.

Here is one example you’ll find in Houston, Texas:Hedayat Razaman was born in Iran on January 12th, 1904, before WWI, penicilin, cars, and even washing machines. http://www.searchles.com/channels/show/4756

So what are his secrets?

  1. No red meat (diet)
  2. Plenty of fruits and vegetables (diet)
  3. No alcohol (diet)
  4. Work out 6 days a week (Exercise)
  5. Gardening (Relaxation, Exercise)
  6. And probably most importantly, a loving and supportive wife and family (Healthy relationships)

Not as hard or complicated as you thought, huh? I bet he doesn’t pump his body full of drugs either.

Highway of Life

Posted by Farhad. No Comments

A few months ago I was driving and suddenly as I was looking at the curve of the highway ahead of me and saw all the cars on the road ahead, and had an epiphany1.

I realized how much life mirrors a highway. We are all on the same road (spiritual evolution), headed in the same direction (our Christ consciousness or God Realization).

Cars representing the amount of stuff, wealth, or baggage that we carry around with ourselves on this road. Some are driving in their Mercedes, or Toyotas, or Bentlies, or Hummers, or Ferraris, or in my case Hyundai Accents.

Some of us are taking an active part in accelerating our spiritual growth by taking part in some kind of spiritual tradition, organized or otherwise, and it could be said that those people are in the “fast lane”. Some are taking the time in the slow lane. Some are just cruising along in the passenger seat or the back seat. Some are stranded on the side of the highway; may be they have a challenge they have in their life that they are trying to fix before getting back on track. May be that challenge is part of their evolution.

Then there are those who have taken an exit and gotten lost in the side streets, i.e. getting addicted to illeagal or psychiatric drugs or alcohol. May be they are wrapped up on some video game, fantasy football, Dungeons & Dragons, or some other fantasy for 3 days straight. May be they spend their time in casinos voluntarily handing over whatever the taxman has left of their hard-earned dollars.

May be they spend all their time working at a job they get no satisfaction from, and then come home and spend the rest of their time on reality tv and various series designed to get them hooked while someone else steals their country away. There are many hooks, distractions, and traps on the highway of life. But in any case, we are all part of this journey and we are on this road together, so let us show each other more compassion and respect, and lend each other a helping hand when possible.

God bless.

Father and Son

Posted by Farhad. No Comments

Hi everyone,

A friend of mine sent this to me recently and I found it to be rather inspirational so I thought I’d share it with you:

A son asked his father, ‘Dad, will you take part in a marathon with me?’ The father who, despite having a heart condition, says ‘Yes’. They went on to complete the marathon together. Father and son went on to join other marathons, the father always saying ‘Yes’ to his son’s request of going through the race together. One day, the son asked his father, ‘Dad, let’s join the Ironman together.’

To which, his father said ‘Yes’ .

For those who didn’t know, Ironman is the toughest triathlon ever. The race encompasses three endurance events of a 2.4 mile (3.86 kilometer) ocean swim, followed by a 112 mile (180.2 kilometer) bike ride, and ending with a 26.2 mile (42.195 kilometer) marathon along the coast of the Big Island .

Father and son went on to complete the race together. Watch it here:
